“보라 내가 새 일을 행하리라”라는 전능의 하나님 여호와, 누구의 지배와 간섭이나 영향을 받지 않으시고 스스로 계시는 여호와 하나님께서 하신 말씀이다.사람은 너나 할 것 없이 새 것을 좋아한다. 새 것은 깨끗하고 아름답고 티가 없기 때문이다. 새 색시, 새 신랑을 좋아하는 것도 그 때문일 것이다.오래 전 머리가 가렵고 빠지는 것을 치료해 볼까 하여 유명하다는 피부과 전문의를 찾아갔다. 명성 탓인지 많은 대기자가 기다리고 있었다. 나도 꽤 바쁜 사람이지만 오랜 시간을 참고 앉아 기다렸다. 내 차례가 되어 주치의 앞에 마주서는 순간 실망할 수밖에 없었다. 그 유명한 피부과 의사의 머리는 나보다 더 많이 빠져 있었기 때문이다. 자기 머리도 못 고친지라 신임이 가지 않아 몇 마디하고 돌아오려다 질문을 던졌다. “나는 피부가 남달리 약하고 부드러워 편지를 뜯다가도 손가락이 베어지고 설거지 비누도 못씁니다. 피부를 좀 두텁게 할 방법이 없을까요?” 한참을 생각하던 의사의 말이 “없습니다. 오직 있다면 새로 태어나는 방법밖에는 도리가 없습니다"라고 했다.유대인의 관원 니고데모가 찾아왔을 때 예수님께서는 “사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님 나라를 볼 수 없느니라”라고 말씀하셨다. 즉 물과 성령으로 새로 나야 새로운 영의 사람, 새 사람이 될 수 있다고 교훈하신 것이다.2009년도는 지나가고 2010년 새해가 밝았다. 새해라고 태양이 새로워 진 것이 아니다. 그렇다고 공기가 새 것이 된 것도 아니다. 우리가 마시는 물과 음식이 새로워진 것도 아니다. 우리가 거처하는 집이 새 집으로 이사한 것도 아니다. 그러나 우리는 새해를 맞이했으니 “새해에 복 많이 받으세요”라고 축복의 인사를 거침없이 주고받고 있다.헬라어로 시간은 둘로 나누어 진다. 크로노스와 카이로스이다. 크로노스는 연대적 시간이다. 크로노스의 시간으로 2009년은 지났고 2010년 1월 1일이 다가온 것이다. 카이로스는 특정한 시간이다. 즉 영원 전부터 계시면서 시간을 창조하시고 지배하시는 하나님의 시간이다. 구속사적인 시간이다. 그러므로 하나님께는 과거나 현재가 없다. 영원한 현재만 있는 것이다.하나님의 아들 예수 그리스도는 시간의 영원한 알파와 오메가이시다. 그는 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 동일하시다. 그래서 사도 바울은 “그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새것이 되었도다”(고후 5:17)라고 하였다. 육의 사람인 우리 야곱 인생을 향하여 영원하신 하나님께서 말씀하신다. “너희는 이전 일을 기억하지 말며 옛적 일을 생각하지 말라 보라 내가 새 일을 행하리니 이제 나타낼 것이라(사 43:18, 19).” 하나님의 자녀인 우리는 그리스도 안에서 새로운 피조물이 되었다. 이제 2010년 새해에 예수 그리스도 안에서 그를 믿고 증거함으로 새 일을 행하는 새 사람으로 힘차게 출발하자. 할렐루야!Behold I Am Making All Things New"Behold, I am making all things new" is what the Lord God--who is almighty, all-sovereign, and completely self-sufficient and self-sustaining--said. Everyone loves new things. Brand new means clean, beautiful, and unblemished. This is why we also love brides and grooms, for they symbolize newness. A while back, my scalp was itchy and I was losing hair, so I visited a well-known dermatologist. Perhaps because of his reputation, there were many waiting to see him. Even though I am a fairly busy person, I patiently waited for a long time. When my turn came, and I sat down in front of him, I could not help but be disappointed. The disappointment stemmed from that fact that this dermatologist known for his remedies for baldness, was even balder than I was. As I had no faith in the doctor who could not cure his own baldness, I planned to ask a few general questions and return home. I did ask him this though: "I have very soft and sensitive skin...so sensitive that i get paper cuts from just opening letters and I cannot use dish detergents. Is there a way to make my skin thicker? The doctor who took his time to think over the question, finally replied, "I'm sorry, but there is no solution to the problem, except to be born again." When Jesus sought out the Jewish government official, Nicodemus, Jesus said to him, "No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again". Thus, Jesus taught that unless one is born again of water and the Spirit, he cannot become a new spiritual man, a new person. 2009 has passed and the year 2010 has come. A new year does not mean that the sun is new. Nor, does it mean that we have new air to breathe. What we drink or eat is not new or different either. And we may not have moved into a new home. However, just because we have entered a new year, we say without hesitation, "Happy New Year! Many blessings to you!"In Greek, the word time is divided into two: kronos and kairos. Kronos is chronological time. In chronological time, 2009 has passed and January 1, 2010 has come. Kairos has to do with the fullness of time, and the right circumstances for something to come to pass. Thus, it is the time of our Father God, who transcends time, and created and rules over time itself. It is the time of the plan of salvation. Therefore, for God, time is not about past or present, but there is only the eternal present. Jesus Christ, the Son of God is time's eternal Alpha and Omega. He is present yesterday, today, and tomorrow for all eternity. Thus, Apostle Paul said, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come"(2 Cor. 5:17). The eternal God addresses us, who are of the flesh and of Jacob, saying: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!"(Isa. 43:18, 19). We who are God's children, have become new creation. Let us start off the New Year 2010 as a new person who is in Jesus Christ, as we put our faith in Him, witness Him, and do new things.
