오래 전에 나성에 집회를 갔다가 디즈니랜드를 구경하게 되었다. 그 중에 ‘작은 세계’ 라는 어린이들의 세계를 보는 순간 황홀하여 감탄하지 않을 수 없었다. 천진난만한 어린이들이 춤을 추며 손을 흔들면서 노래하는 장면들이 각 나라마다 특색있게 연출되는 것이 너무나 아름다웠다. 정말 작은 천국을 보는 듯하였다. 그래서 두 번, 세 번 그 장면을 다시 보았다. 이렇게 좋은 것을 나 혼자 보는 것이 너무 아쉬웠다. 사랑하는 아들딸들이 함께 보면 얼마나 좋을까 생각했다. 그래서 다음 해 우리 아이들과 함께 디즈니랜드를 구경하러 갔다. 황홀경에 빠진 아이들이 밤이 되도록 즐기는 모습을 보니 정말 잘 왔구나 하는 생각이 들었다. 그 후 캐나다 밴쿠버에 갔다가 빅토리아 섬에 있는 부처드가든을 가 보았다. 너무 아름다워 ‘이 지상에 이렇게 아름다운 곳도 있구나!’ 라고 감탄에 감탄을 하지 않을 수 없었다. 거기서 차를 타고 캐나다 로키 산맥을 관광하였다. 그 장관, 그 멋, 그 장엄함이란 말로 형용하기 어려웠다. 높푸른 하늘 위를 찌르는 흰눈 덥힌 산봉우리들, 그 위에서 두둥실 춤을 추듯 나르는 흰 뭉게구름, 바위산의 허리를 두른 무성하고 푸른 소나무 밭. 그리고 들꽃으로 수놓은 야산에서 뛰노는 사슴, 산양과 들소들의 무리. 산맥 줄기를 타고 흐르는 맑은 강물, 만년설이 녹아서 고인 파랑 또는 진 초록빛의 그림같이 아름다운 호수들을 바라보니 ‘주 하나님, 지으신 모든 세계’ 라는 찬양이 저절로 흘러 나왔다. 그래서 영국인들은 이 로키 산맥을 천국 다음으로 좋은 죽기 전에 반드시 보고 가야할 곳이라고 말한다. 나 혼자 보기에는 너무나 좋은 곳이었기에 나는 몇 년 전 아내와 세 아이들을 데리고 아름답고 장엄한 로키 산맥으로 휴가를 다녀왔다. 그런데 이 지상의 어떤 곳보다도 비교할 수 없이 좋은 곳이 있다. 그 곳은 바로 우리 아버지 하나님이 계신 하늘나라다. 천국은 아름다움의 극치, 사랑의 극치, 평화의 극치, 행복의 극치를 이루는 곳이다. 이렇게 좋은 천국 혼자 갈 수 없어서 우리는 사랑하는 사람, 행복을 찾는 사람, 외로운 사람, 슬픈 사람, 고달픈 사람, 병든 사람들과 함께 가야 한다. 이들 모두를 천국으로 인도하여 행복하게 해 줄 수 있는 분은 오직 한 분, 우리 주 예수 그리스도이시다. 이렇게 좋은 천국 나 혼자 갈 수 없어 우리는 ‘행복에의 초대’ 잔치를 베풀고 아직 예수 그리스도를 만나지 못한 분들을 초청한다. 우리 모두 이 귀한 일에 적극 동참하자. 만나는 사람들마다 예수 믿고 좋은 천국 함께 가자고 권하자. 너도 나도 손에 손을 잡고 함께 나와 예수 그리스도를 만나고 천국을 소유하는 행복의 주인공들이 되기를 바란다.How Can I Go to Such a Beautiful Heaven Alone? A long while back, I was able to visit Disney Land while in Los Angeles for a revival meeting. At Disney Land, I was blissfully taken aback by the child-like wonder of one ride, "It's a Small World". Pure and innocent children danced and waved their hands, while they sang, each performing in their individual native costumes and customs; what a pretty sight to see! It really felt to me like I was seeing a small glimpse of heaven. Thus, I watched the scene two or three times over. I was sad to see such a beautiful sight by myself. I thought of how wonderful it would be if my beloved son and daughters could watch it with me. So, the next year, I took my children to visit Disney Land. When I saw my blissful children having the time of their lives, without thinking of leaving even past nightfall, I knew I had done the right thing by returning to this place with them. Sometime after that trip, I was in Vancouver, Canada, and had the opportunity of visiting a garden in Victoria's Vancouver Island. It was so beautiful that I was struck with wonder, and could only say to myself, 'Could there be such a beautiful place as this on earth!' From there, we drove by car to the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The awesome grandeur, the splendor, the majesty; I could not express with mere words. The snow-capped mountain peaks pierced the blue sky, and above them puffs of white cumulus clouds floated jauntily along as if they were dancing. The green fields of evergreens circled the waists of mountains, and the deer, goats, and bison pranced and frolicked across plains of wild flowers. As I drank in the beauty of the sparkling rivers flowing along the curves of the mountain range, and the deep blue-green lakes formed by the melting ice glaciers, my heart rang out with the hymn, "How Great Thou Art". Therefore, the British say that before one dies one must see this Rocky Mountain range is said to be the most beautiful place after heaven. Because it was too breathtakingly beautiful for me to see and enjoy by myself, several years ago I returned to the beautiful and majestic Canadian Rockies on our family vacation with my wife and three children. But there is a place that is incomparably better than any place here on earth. That place is heaven, where our Father God resides. Heaven is the place for reaching the culmination of all beauty, love, peace, and happiness. Because it is too beautiful for us to go to by ourselves, we have to take with us our loved ones, as well as the person who is seeking happiness, the lonely person, the sad person, the tired person, and the sick person. Only one person, our Lord Jesus Christ can lead all of these people to Heaven and give them true happiness. Because heaven is too beautiful a place to go by ourselves, we are celebrating a feast called 'An Invitation to Happiness', and inviting all those who have not yet met Jesus Christ. Let us all participate whole-heartedly in this precious event. May we passionately encourage all those we meet, to believe in Jesus and to go with us to this wonderful heaven. I pray that you and I, all of us can hold hands with one another and meet Jesus Christ, so that we may together be the joyful recipients of heaven.
